What makes these seeds special? Because these are open-pollinated seeds gathered from our entire dahlia collection, every single plant will be a surprise. No two blooms will be alike, meaning you could get anything from lush, full-petalled decorative types to elegant singles, quirky pompoms, or dramatic cactus styles. When to start & plant: Start your seeds indoors in August/September, around 6–8 weeks before Labour Weekend, so your seedlings are strong, healthy, and ready to go into the ground right on cue. Dahlias are frost-sensitive, so Labour Weekend (late October) is the ideal time to plant out, once the danger of frost has passed.
